Kroil Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Any serious ruff hunters here? Or prairie grouse/wild huns? We are a few of the rare ones if you are.
Spent Brass Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I do some grouse hunting in Wayne county pa but numbers are way down from what they were.Saw alittle upswing innumbers last year. Hunting and fishing is not a sport to me its a way of life:rock:
MikeP Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I spend every weekend in October and the first one or two of November chasing grouse. I'm a glutton for punishment :banghead: "A Dog, a Gun and Time Enough"....George Bird Evans
Tika270 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 I haven't hunt grouse in a long time. Do hunt the woodcock really hard. D-D... Nothing like a warm barrel. Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.
Bucksnbows Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Yes, mostly in PA on two separate annual trips, but it looks like my buddy's new farm outside Cooperstown, NY has some decent grouse and woodcock habitat that make make an annual list of destinations for a few of us and our trained dogs. I still have some NJ land to grouse hunt in, but I don't hunt grouse nearly as much here as I once did until we can create more habitat for them. Woodcock in NJ are where you find them and remain more or less plentiful if you look in the right places. https://www.troutscapes.com/ https://nativefishcoalition.org/national-board
