I have yet to kill a Gobbler with my old- J.C. Higgins/ Sears Robuck- model 583-1b/16gauge Shotgun.

Bolt action and the Flat Safety is pushed forward when ready to shoot. The carriage is long gone. I have 1 Shot and 1 bead. 26" Barrel and marked Full. Weighs 6lbs and,I had to fabricate a trigger guard.

It patterns Great in the past and soon to pattern again with- Remington Express/2 3/4"- #6s of 1 1/8 ozs of Pheasant  Ammo.

Looking for a good shot under 40 yards/Head Down Son- lol.

Check it out below.I painted the whole Shotgun Green and taped 2 Oak Leaves on the Stock for luck before painting.

HONOR THE FALLEN

Over the years the US has sent many of its fine young men & women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return, is enough to bury those that did not return. COLIN POWELL

After u get your bird with that - I think u should try a longbow for them.  Give the birds more of a chance.

I had a lot of fun with the [compound] bow last year. It was frustrating when you get them in shotgun range and you say, "Man! I'd have killed this bird by now if I had my gun!", and you are still sitting there waiting for them to come closer... come closer... :) But it was satisfying when it happens!
