I think I don't see as much as I used to before phones. Well I'm 36 so before phones got the way they are. Yesterday I'm in my stand around 130 I'm looking at my phone for probably a hour. I just look up at about 100 yards is what I think is a 8 point. I never heard him so if I didn't look up he would of slipped by unnoticed. I hit the grunt tube he comes in to about 30 yards but stays in the thick. A hour later he was chasing a doe all around my stand for at least a hour. So next Saturday I'm putting my phone in my back pack and hunting lol

I hear you.  The post about all day sits had more comments about phones and batteries than it did about hunting gear.  :shakehead:

How has social media changed hunting, for you and for hunting as a whole?

Speaking for myself, Nope, not as far as the act of hunting goes.. However, social media has given me a better means to conversate with other hunters more often then just an occasional chat in the parking lot of a WMA.. Having lived in Jersey city for the better part of 20 years after my move from VA my hunting buddies were few. Nothing in that city but yuppies and criminals.. Only met one other hunter/trapper during my entire stay there.. A plumber by the name of Richard Larwa..

As far as changing hunting as a whole.. I don't think so..  While social media does allow for better communication amongst outdoorsmen thus better organization and mobilization if necessary, The powers that be pay little attention to us when it comes to regulation instead relying on Science and or politics...

I agree.

Have you heard of putting contact lenses in your deer's eyes to take better pictures?

With all of the picture posting these days people are putting some serious time into picture taking.

It has become an art form all on its own. There is a lot to say about the guys that take the time to present the animal in a classy respectful way.

For me it hasn't changed anything. But like anything else it has its pros and cons. It has allowed hunters to meet other hunters, people are able to share pics and stories on a larger scale. The cons... well look at the other site!

Have hunting websites had an impact on the deer that you choose to shoot?

Question for me?  Answer:  Nope.  I really couldn't care less what any one thinks about the deer I shoot or pretty much anything else.  I frequent hunting websites as a source of entertainment only, although, palawman had a great post on scrapes and scents, so maybe its 80 percent entertainment and 20 percent to learn something.

No but I have heard of using taxidermy (glass) eyes. Had a pair till one broke.
