During the archery seasons, what is the best time to take your doe(s) in benefiting the overall deer herd?

I don't think it matters much when you shoot a doe.

The end result is still one less doe.

In my case I like to hunt bucks so if I were to shoot a doe. It would be the last week of the season.

I go through great lengths to keep the pressure to the absolute minimum I can.

So I see shooting anything but a buck I'm after as disturbing and educating deer.

I don't like to be told by the state I have to shoot a doe.

Also, the farmer permits are ridiculous, that's my crying.

So I refuse to shoot a single doe off my farm.

The farmer rides up and down the road shooting deer all night long so why would I shoot one.

I spend lots of time on my property making improvements,

Hinge cuts (bedding/ woody browse) food plots that pretty much have food year round, but mostly focus on late season food , water holes  apple and chestnut trees and a sanctuary.

When the food sources dry up and the pressures on, the deer stay close to the cover and food.

Before Ehd I could have 50 deer in my plots Dec Jan Feb.

Now maybe 20 to 25 a night.

You can do some things with small acreage.

The problem is the long seasons with bait piles and driving and multiple buck tags.

Antlered deer stand little chance of surviving.
