Spotted fawns in December

Saw these two today while on the trapline and couldn't believe how small they were.

Low and behold they show up on camera..

Middle of December  and they look to be about two months old !

They were BORN during early archery!

I have one constantly around my area. It has no spots but probably weighs only about 60 lbs.

Depends on the winter. So far their chances are good but it’s only December. Hopefully January is just as mild and no snow. Once we get any type of accumulation that sticks around they will become a meal for a coyote no doubt.

I'd say slim especially if we get deep snow... there has been a small pack of coyotes in the area

If they survive the next two months it be a shame to see them leveled by yo buckers or run over by a car

Wow. She was breed late late season. Crazy. Time for you to get a few coyotes and give them a chance.

My thought is that those fawns have a summer coat with the spots. Real cold weather might me issue unless they shed and produce a winter coat in order to survive the cold. Just thinking if that is the case here.

Big8ptr  hit the nail on the head,that is a summer coat not enough for the winter.

If any of these fawns are females, the cycle will continue again if they survive. They will reach maturity to breed late and produce fawns late in the season. The cycle will be broken when they no longer survive to breeding size.
