I saw reports on a NJ ice fishing page on Facebook of between 5-7” on some Sussex lakes and ponds. That won’t be for all lakes and ponds, but certainly several are safe now. I’ll be checking a 2 acre private pond this morning for safe ice myself.

some smaller bodies of water have 6", some bigger lakes wide open.   The heavy winds kept the bigger lakes open in spite of single digits.    It's all for naught - this coming weekend and following week will have every single one of them wide open again.

Staying below freezing in the Poconos till Wed. then 40s for a while, but not a particularly strong ice. Frozen slush and snow on top. Had several single digits nights since Friday night, but had some open water on Friday afternoon. Tread lightly.

Got out twice over the weekend. 9 inches of hard, clear ice. Slow fishing, marked a bunch but only caught one small crappie. Sure was nice to get out!

Two guys on lake musk,and a bunch on budd lake .after this weekend I don't think there will be much left

That’s a dumb ass . Feel bad for rescue squad when they get called to save guys like that .

‘going back up current just takes one sheet coming over the boat to wipe it out .

Agreed. Maybe duck hunters pushing the limits. Certainly not fishable.
