Hoping more details will come out after Nov 15th F&G meeting, but any inklings on if this will be a permit hunt or will general hunting license  suffice?

Thinking it would be difficult to do a permit given they want to have hunt during 6-day firearm, but you never know.

Everything is the same except the small changes about shooting small bears, shooting from a family unit, and baiting. Other than that its all the same as before

No zones were still selling out the last few years of the hunt. And that’s part of the problem. NJ bear hunters seem to be happy shooting one and never another. I fell into that category myself. But I’m back at it this year!

Yea i could see them not selling out the last few because of the hunt ban on federal land bs stunt he pulled

For us folks below the Trenton-Murphy line we should organize a group of southerners to go up and whack and stack a few. Bear meat is delicious!

Everyone "hates" and complains about the bears and how much they see. I had 8 and all have disappeared since mid October.

I'm waiting to see how serious guys are about getting rid of them by letting people on their areas

Not a complete a$$ hole just one of the dingle berries that hang off it.

They always disappear in middle of October that's why there we so few taken with the bow over bait they move to natural food like acorns  just like deer. I see more in December.

Haven't bought a gun license in almost 10 years if bears open I'm going to hopefully kill one and prove Murphy is an a$$hole

Hunting them is fun, and took my share of them here in NJ over the bear hunting years.

But the novelty of the hunt is over for many, getting it out of the woods is a lot of work, then finding a butcher which can be expensive, and of course the taxidermist bill, I do recommend if you're successful spend the money to have some sort of mount done.....so I can see how many get hyped to hunt them, but afterward they lose interest

Not a Murphy supporter but I grudgingly give him credit for acknowledging he made a mistake& reversing course.

He was a strict supporter of the ban bear hunt, I find it ironic that he and his family are friends with the family of the little boy from Morris County that got attacked a few weeks ago now out of the blue he says a hunt is needed

One thing they didn't mention in the announcement that I hope they change... Check in requirements. They should do away with check in stations and allow online check-in. No need to let the wack-a-doodle protestors threaten hunters anymore. Hope they talk about that during the meeting on the 15th.

I have No interest in bear hunting but I would get a kick out of drivng by those protestors with a dead bear flipping them the bird. ...that's how i roll....

Again with the anti check-in like you did with the turkey.👎

The check-in is for the biologist that will be present to gather the facts,,bear can travel up to 50 miles, they check the teeth the claws, for age ,they weigh it and some have collars and some have tags.

Then they need to treat it as a biological research tool and not as a political opportunity for the wack jobs to vent their frustrations in front of the media and threaten hunters.

You've never been there so you don't know it is not like that. The protesters are there on the other side of the road with the state police in between them and us, no issues! Call me old fashion but the check stations bear, deer, turkey we're part of the greatest part of the post hunt for me, metal tags seals checked in anywhere from a Mom and Pop gas station to a tavern. Intermingling with biologist's and fellow hunter's from Maine to Florida handshakes and sharing stories taking pictures with real cameras with film was priceless!!!!
