It's obvious a hunt is needed to keep animals in check. Just like deer.

🤔 Welfare and criminals fit in there somewhere lol

Not a complete a$$ hole just one of the dingle berries that hang off it.

Murphy has a 4 year lame duck term, but I do agree @Merkel . Fish and Wildlife warned him what would happen without a hunt and now he's getting an earful from concerned citizens as well as all of us that emailed and called into his office.

"What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms."

- Thomas Jefferson, letter to William Stephens Smith, son-in-law of John Adams, December 20, 1787

Suspect the change may have more to do with him worried about “having blood on his hands” if, heaven forbid, there is a fatal human-bear interaction.

Why would anyone in their right mind (not directed at you) be remotely concerned about that when he has plenty of city gun violence and COVID deaths related to him on his hands. A human-bear fatality should be a cake walk for him......

Granted I'm a cynic  but likely there will be a lawsuit to stop the hunt giving Il Duce the perfect out while appeasing both sides.

Who's going to file a lawsuit This woman? She lives 10 minutes from my house. Maybe I'll give her a call.

Her thinking.

Use these facts:

Bear hunts are cruel and do not reduce complaints or incidents.

I need somebody to get me up there ;) During 6-day - I assume we'll be able to use slug guns.

However... I remember when we did have the hunt, people complained that they weren't seeing any bears during that late season because the bears were already starting to hunker down for hibernation. Not sure if that will be the case this year, too.

There's camping in Stokes State Forest. Tent/trailer sites and leantos. The tent/trailer site doesn't have water and elec hookup. The leantos have a woodstove for heat. Billy and i stayed up there in 1 during 6 day of 2016. There's another campground nearby that's not State run and has cabin like facilities with electric and possibly bathrooms in them

Hoping more details will come out after Nov 15th F&G meeting, but any inklings on if this will be a permit hunt or will general hunting license  suffice?

Thinking it would be difficult to do a permit given they want to have hunt during 6-day firearm, but you never know.

No offense taken. You raise a good point.   Perhaps the differences are Murphy specifically campaigned on ending the bear hunt.  Whereas he can blame city gun violence on the perennial liberal view that there are too many guns in circulation and the need for more gun restrictions.  On covid, last year Monmouth University did a poll. It showed that 62% people that Murphy did a good job handling covid.  So who knows.

Excellent points in particular the gun issue. Truly hard to blame Covid deaths on Murphy. I was working in multiple hospitals at that time and bed space was at a premium, literal panic had set in and of course little was known about the virus and how it was spread. That said I wonder if any of that 62% lost someone they loved in a nursing home.

Anyone with a pen and a dollar or two can file a lawsuit. This woman is but one example.
