For any of you that know me I love inshore saltwater fishing. Fluke being my favorite. I curious to hear about everyone's season and how you did. I have to say 2 years in a row fishing on Earle navy pier was slow early. For me anyway. We only got a handful of keepers and not that many shorts. I didn't get to fish the pier past mid June really. We just got a seasonal at cedar creek campground and most of my fishing was from headboats. A few charters (tournaments) and I got a beach buggy pass to fish IBSP and I fished seaside park some too. Well the headboat fishing was meh. Some days there were hardly any shorts. I caught a keeper here a couple there but no banner days like years past. Even fishing charters with junior it was a grind at times. Don't get me wrong junior catches fish but you really had to work to get them. And not a lot of shorts mixed in. Ibsp. I didn't put forth my best effort. It was our first year there and I was more concentrating on making sure the wife and kids were happy. I did fish the Barnegat inlet a couple of times with nothing but the skunk. I did have a couple hits and fish on briefly. But still nada. I think my three favorite days from last year were. One morning I decided to just throw a jig around the surf at seaside park and wound up with fluke on almost every cast including 4 keepers and a couple of nice fish that broke off in the wash. This all happened in a couple of hours and the life guards kicked me off because they were going to open the beach. The second was the 2 fish douche challange with Lou Jeff tom john Sam and junior. Always a ton of laughs with these guys. Junior finally didn't win the cash. ( this guy did). And unfortunatly. Jeff took back to back douche titles. And the best memory was getting on a headboat for the first time with my little girl. She's only three and she had the patients of a three year old but she handled the half day just fine and reeled in her first fluke. My wife was able to join me we got grandma to watch jimmy. I'm hoping to get out with the wife more. She likes to fish and she told me she wants to catch a striper so I booked a trip on the little hawk for next May. Lol don't have to tell me twice.
