Guy at my local bow shop was promoting the scent thief products like they reinvented the spray industry.

Bought a bottle and seems to have a strong minty smell to it but the company claims for it to knock out the deers sense of smell completely.

anyone ever use this stuff?

Was referred to it by a buddy who swears by it. Picked up a bottle as well as the wafer.

On 2 sits since it has not let me down. Obviously still have to play the wind- but deer were downwind of me and they were relaxed. My son sprayed the blind down with it as well and liked it also.

Good product 👍

Friend of mine uses it. Gave me a wafer last year so I hung it up on branch next to my stand. Had shooter buck walking trail and would’ve came 20 yards broadside. As soon as he hit where scent was blowing he stopped 32 yards but offered no shot. He didn’t spook but wasn’t sure what was going on so he changed direction and walked slowly away. Not sure if it was the wafer or something else? Maybe young bucks or young does but I’m not sold on a mature buck. That was my experience.

This was my first season using it and I have nothing negative to say about it. As said above obviously still play the wind. I can’t definitively say whether or not it was the reason I shot my buck this year but here’s my story:

I shot my buck out of a blind that I had no intention of hunting but decided that morning that I was going to sit there. It’s a spot that I normally bait but there was none currently out. I got in my blind a little earlier than usual so I had time to spread corn around. Before walking in I sprayed myself head to toe in scent thief and sprayed my hands before I started spreading the corn around in front of my blind. I do not dump my corn on the ground straight out of the bag I prefer to take handfuls and throw them around sparsely. I then sprayed the blind down then got in to sit. An hour later my buck came in a little hesitant at first looking at the blind then relaxed and started eating the corn that I had just touched. I shot him at less than 20 yards and watched him eat for a few minutes waiting for him to turn for a shot (he was full frontal eating when he came in). Again, I don’t know if this was because of the scent thief that he came into eat, but I was very impressed that he did and had no problem with it.

My question would be. How it affects the rut? The website claims it stops an animal from having any sense of smell. Not good if a buck is looking for a hot doe. correct?

Deer are relying on their nose 24/7

IMO when a mature buck suddenly isn’t smelling anything he instantly knows something is wrong .

and more often than not his instincts to get out of that area kick in .

Last year there was a guy with us on a out of state hunt that spayed himself all over with that nose jammer stuff before getting in the truck. I don’t know what it did to the deer but it made me friggin hungry as hell in the morning the whole truck smelled like French toasts
