No, I'm not looking to poach your spots :) Just curious what some others hunt their deer at.  I grew up in zone 3 and mostly deer hunt zone 6, both of which are mountainous for NJ.  There aren't farms and crop fields and both spots have fairly limited homes and businesses (relative to NJ), so not even a ton of foundation planting browse.  The deer are not overly abundant with some exceptions (housing complexes and golf courses, for example).  They have a lot of coyotes and bears - not to mention hunters - chasing them all over the hills and they rely heavily on acorns and hickory nuts as well as browse.  Here are some pix of my woods...

I'm very familiar with the last picture, but the other three I'm not so sure about.  What are those big gray things anyway?

Is it obvious that I'm a true flatlander?  :tooth:

My 6 Day shotgun stand is atop one of those boulders.  We named that stand "the Prudential" from the old TV insurance commercials ("Get a piece of the rock").

Nice looking property! A far cry from the pines, gum trees and cedar swamps I hunt. No rocks down here, well pulverized rock ala sugar sand :)

Nice Hetley!  I was just talking to a local farmer near here that I know, trying to get some leads on a lease.  Pretty tough, most around here hunt, so not holding my breath, but ya never know :)

Speaking of farms, a lot of cutting going on now, most of the beans and corn are down around here.

Matt american whitetail has a lot of them but this farmer don't like them so we jumped on it. First year didn't see much from so much pressure but it seems to get better with time. This isn't far from you bud

That's great!  Yeah properties take time for sure, and that's good you have a landowner willing to work with you guys!

Cool, if you ever need any help tracking or scouting, drop me a line...I'd be more than happy to help out, always cool to see new woods and try to figure the puzzle out! :)
