I saw one in ny Saturday.   First one I saw in 3 years.  
didn’t hear any drumming this spring in ny  either   

hAvnt seen one in nj since 2011 or 2013. 

miss the mid and late 80s   Always some them in nj  amazing birds

We still see decent numbers in NY where we turkey hunt. I haven't seen or heard one in NJ in years maybe decades. The spot I used to hunt in Bridgewater would always have a few, but that was in the 80's.

There is some good habitat left and you will find birds there still. But I agree about logging. So does the Division, but they always have huge public fights over those types of projects.  The logging on Sparta Mountain WMA, Berkshire Valley WMA and Hudson Farm Club are all designed to be close enough together to reintroduce birds if there are no wild birds left in those areas to repopulate them.

A buddy of mine wanted it breasted out, so I did.  I am gonna hang the carcass behind the house in the hope it will attract a big kitty.
