2013cossj
Looking for one of the easier knots to tie together the two lines. Looked at some on you tube, still tough...Post up any links you have found that have worked for you please.....Getting frustrated when fishing should be fun... Thanks.... nmc02
I just want to clarify.....are you trying to attach a premade leader to fly line or tippet to leader?? If premade leader to fly line, the best (and easiest) is doing a loop to loop connection.....most fly lines made in the last several years have a loop and all premade leaders have a loop. Therefore, loop to loop is easiest. If your fly line is older or more inexpensive, you may need to put a loop on it. nmc02
OR....if you are talking about attaching tippet to your leader, there are a few ways. If nymph fishing with more than one fly try using a tippet ring. If just adding tippet to leader then tie a double surgeon's knot. Jerzguy2
Leader to tippet, Blood knot ( I actually enjoy tying this knot - for over 60 years ). Always used a nail knot for fly line to leader. Sometimes coat it with UV cement. How often do you change leaders, maybe a couple times a year ? I would only fish a fly line with a welded loop these days. Makes swapping out leaders fast. I can go from nymphing to streamer fishing to dry fly fishing on the same rod on the same day, and I swap leaders and tippet for each of those styles. When I guide others, if they don’t have a welded loop I just nail knot a new leader to their fly line and cut it maybe 8” down the leader and form a loop in the leader mono. Now they have a loop to loop system. nmc02 and nb6624 1 1 https://www.troutscapes.com/
gregtpal
My fly line has no loop so I use a jam knot. tie a simple overhand knot at the very end of your fly line, pull it real tight & trim the excess close. Insert the knot into your leader loop, wrap once around the loop & go back out of the loop on the same side you went in on & pull tight so overhand knot is locked in tight. Very simple to swap leaders & less wind resistance than casting a double loop.
Merkel
My buddy recently taught me how to tie a perfection knot to attach a knotless leader to the fly line. Still need practice. I use a surgeons knot to attach the tippet to the leader.
