First fresh heart of the season. Family favorite… can’t believe how many hunters leave these for the foxes and yotes.

I used to eat them all the time with hunting buddies but haven’t in quite a few years, but after watching Meateater I’m going to try a couple of his recipes this year, that looks great Fluke belly

I wont touch liver or lungs…but this is just another muscle same as loins or straps. Actually tastes better in my opinion.

You should check The Meateater cookbook.

 

Wife got me it for my birthday last year. Plenty of good recipes and other info on cooking wild game and fish. About 350 pages.

I work with a guy from Trinidad. He begs me to give him all the guts from the deer. In my eyes the guts stay where I gut the deer. I do give him the heart. He loves it .
