archer36
I think crossbow shaming has fallen to the wayside. It's all about killing your game in the best way YOU can. No shame in that! electricstart, DonW, Rumrunner69 and 6 others 3 3
electric10162
Same guys who shamed us when we went from recurves and wood arrows to compounds and aluminum. Same things were said. Oh....they'll be way too accurate, shoot too far, blah blah blah. Recurve hntr
I could care less what anyone has to say about hunting with a crossbow. I hunt with an Excalibur cross bow , compound bow and recurve bows. I enjoy shooting and hunting with all of them. As long as u take ethical shots for a quick clean kill it shouldn’t matter. iluv2hunt, Asbury24, Cousin Brown and 7 others 5
Buckeyes11
I hunt with a crossbow and could care less what anyone thinks. I switched to an xbow because I have vision issues. Especially at last light. So it made more sense to switch. I also shoot a 50 cal muzzy with a Leupold scope too. Humane kills is all that matters. Period. archer36, Sharpdogs, electricstart and 7 others 9
3Blade
We are our own worst enemies sometimes. Gobblengrunt
Like 3blade said, we are our own worst enemies. There is a lot of jealousy and foolish pride with many hunters. Sometimes its almost comical the comments or stories you hear about someone else's hunt or the weapon they use when they dont even know that person. Use the legal weapon that makes you happy, make a good ethical shot, and be proud of your hunt! The social media and video followers have ruined the tradition of hunting. Just enjoy the woods Cousin Brown, MPSR, Merkel and 13 others 7 6
WVAhunter08
Good read, agree with everyone else that however you choose to hunt as long your legal and ethical who cares what you use. I don’t think we should pretend though that xbows aren’t easier to use and become proficient with much more quickly than a compound bow. That being said, I think that is good thing especially for new hunters especially in a time when those numbers are nosediving. Whatever gets more people involved in hunting is a good thing in my book
Sharpdogs
Crossbows bring a lot of new hunters to the sport. Are numbers are dwindling as it is. I started with a crossbow and switched to a compound last year. I was a new hunter at 39 and the crossbow made it easier for me to get into the sport. Just like other posters said it's all about safe and humane kills. JFC1
ratherbhunting
I have always supported whatever method is legal and you want to use it, go for it. When I got my crossbow I had a friend of mine give me a hard time telling me that guys who use crossbows take shots that are way too far and wound too many deer. I told him it is the guy behind the crossbow and not the crossbow. I then told him the guys taking shots that are too far with crossbows are the same guys taking shots that are too far with their muzzleloaders, slug guns, shotguns with buck shot and bows of any kind. Now the same guy that gave me a hard time uses a crossbow. toxo
Greybeard
Never read anyone complaining or shaming anyone else on this site for choice of weapon. On another archery only sight some still think it's cool to do so, but even there they are the one who end up getting the short end as more and more people support there use. I've asked the guys that claim it's a gun why they say that, what are they comparing to come up with that. I get no answer because they are only repeating what they herd and don't know anything about using one. toxo
Pathman
Plenty of crossbow shamers in NJ, and on here unfortunately, as well as bait shamers, wish I could understand why, so unnecessary, such a waste of time. toxo, tpr1921, hunterbob1 and 2 others 1
Roon
Lol I hated crossbows in the beginning, then I got a 99% let off Concept Archery Bow and thought 🤔 how much a difference 1% would make. So I bought a crossbow. Use and love em both. Different places, spaces and situations dictate what goes out Sharpdogs 1 Not a complete a$$ hole just one of the dingle berries that hang off it.
