Tomorrow's opener or soaker?

Who's going out tomorrow AM for the state-wide opener?

 

I'm gong to get up with every intention of going out, but I'll assess the weather when I do. It's going to be in the lower 40s and wet at sunrise. There's a chance my blind will keep the worst off of me as long as it's not torrential rain. The afternoon will be drier, but it's going to be really gusty tomorrow too.

 

Anyone else planning on venturing out?

Was just out checking cams. Definitely breezy but the rain is down to a drizzle.

Didn't see any deer, but I learned a little more about my spot.

 

There are 5 squirrels and three chipmunks that eat all of the corn when the feeder goes off.  Takes them about two hours to have their way with it.  Squirrels and chipmunks are afraid of turkey.  I had four turkey, one with a beard, come barreling into the spot around 8:30AM.  They spooked the rodents out of the spot and walked around picking stuff up off the ground.  After they left the rodents came back to see what else they could find.  I was ready to impale one of those tree rats to unload my crossbow, but didn't want to potentially break a bolt on a rock.  If they're there today, I might come back with one.  I'm going back out for a late afternoon sit.

 

It was worth getting out there.  Sat from 6:15 until around 10:30.  Stayed real dry in the blind, and that also takes the edge off the wind.  Critters were coming in 3-4 feet away from me, so the setup is good.  Just waiting for those deer to show up.

Sounds like a fun sit!  Good amount of wildlife activity, just no deer.  

Yeah the blinds are awesome for inclement weather, really is nice to sit in them when it's raining and/or windy!
