Ravincrossbow
Can anyone point me in the right direction with any tips and a good fly setup for salmon river never went up. Plan on fishing September- October Thanks
MGHunter66
7wt Switch Rod. Bunch of good ones out there. Echo and Readington make some good mid price set ups. Pair the rod with a Lamson reel loaded with 30lb backing and a Wulff Ambush Triangle taper and you can swing buggers and steamers or indicator fish with nymphs snd egg patterns. nmc02
I do not like switch rods. I recommend Echo ion xl....if you like one handed rods. 7 or 8 wt in 10 ft w Lamson reel (as stated above). The echo rods are inexpensive & very durable. I have the 7 wt for steelhead & 8 wt for salmon. The echo rods run a little heavy and a 7 wt is strong enough for salmon. Matter of fact, regardless of price I would get the echo ion xl for salmon river ny salmon. Good luck. Learn to tie estaz eggs on sz 2 owner or gamakatsu octopus hooks. Saves you money.
