Trophy8
Son bought home on 13 acres, plenty of wood to cut. What chainsaw are you using, bar size and model. My old tree days we used 16" bar for climbing on up to 60" for dropping and cutting...out of touch for new saws. Rusty
archer36
I'm using an Ego 16" 56 volt battery. Looks like you need a gas chainsaw with all the cutting you're going to do. Trophy8

A Relative of mine owned an equipment business and could use any chainsaw he wanted but he used nothing but Stihl. Haskell_Hunter
I have a Stihl MS390 with a 20" bar. That will get me through most trees with little difficulty. Trophy8
Would be a Sthil for sure, have used what used to be 020 thru 098. He's thinking 18" bar, but I'm skeptical when cutting 12"+ diameter logs
Rusty
I like a shorter bar for better control. I have a Stihl 362 with an 18” bar. It’s a great all around saw for felling and bucking. If the property is north of 78 and you want a bunch of stuff cut up you should host our next wood cutting party! electric10162
I use a 20" Stihl Farmboss MS391 on all the heavy stuff and use the 18 volt Milwaukee chainsaw for everything else. Trophy8 and archer36

Nice to have a small, light, battery operated saw for quick work. My 56 volt battery is heavy. Edited August 24, 2022 by archer36

huntyctyboy
i've used stihl echo and husky, macs, dolmar lombard, etc. i think dolmar/makita is best bang for your buck out of all of them. its like ford vs chevy vs dodge. all opinions. you don't need a pro saw for what you will be doing unless you got extra coin to drop Trophy8
