Surf fishing for sharks ...PEOPLE ARE NUTS!!!

Apparently the mayor in Sea Isle City wants to ban surf fishing for sharks. Why  you ask?? Oh, because it draws in sharks of course. You can't make this stuff up. Insane...

Just curious how can a municipality ban fishing for certain species in the ocean (i.e. not a local municipal owned lake or pond) that is perfectly legal by state law???

Probably just did it to shut up a bunch of Karens that were screaming "think of the children!!!"

Last week , Radio stations in Long Island were complaining there  is too much bunker along their beaches drawing the sharks .

so they were asking the DEP why they weren’t killing all the bunker .

WTF , idiots that don’t understand most everything they eat from the sea relies on the bunker for food .

Seems they even banned shark fishing within 600 ft of the beach.  I think fish and game needs a call.

Imo it has nothing to do with it drawing in more sharks and more to do with perception  of their beaches by tourist, exactly the same as movie jaws where the mayor didn’t want Brody to make the public aware of jaws because they would loose business, the towns and state can try to stop it but as long as there is other fish that eat fish for food there is no way to, the best they can do is ticket people for taking them out of the water to get a picture

It’s already illegal to take pics removing them from the water .

FG gives that warning a few times a year now.

They can’t make any hunting or fishing regulations whatsoever. It’s a feel good move they can’t legally enforce.
