JHbowhunter
Had to be a copperhead unless with all the southern species of animals and fish migrating North, that a water moccasin found its way up here. Definitely had fangs so was venomous as others have stated 16 3/4” Live Fluke Release Club

huntyctyboy
lots of people mistake northern water snake for copperheads all the time. I've had campers at RVR trying to convince me to watch out for the copperhead over there swimming around, I see it and yeah it's non-venomous snake. don't get me wrong NWS do have a bit of a temper. I had a run in with one yesterday on the Lamington , it didn't like the interruption of meal time of an 8 inch American eel it was swallowing down. Greybeard
NWS can be confused for a copperhead, but if you've seen a copperhead it wouldn't be as easily confused for a nws JFC1

Eyesofthewoods
When it’s dry and hot like it’s been it’s not uncommon to find copperheads and rattle snakes near water sources.
