good day smallmouth fishing

fished the main stem of the raritan today. had action all day. 

this has to be the darkest smallie i can remember catching. it was almost all black.

a couple of my flys took a beaten today lol. they started falling apart. spend the rest of my day drinking cold heinekens and tying more up.

thanks guys. any reason why that one smallmouth was almost all black? i have caught others similar in size but they were the normal color phase of a smallmouth. could it be their diet?
