WWII 45

A gentleman I know has a WWII Colt 45 with original holster extra mags. and even the ammo.....he was wondering that after the war, his father ( it was his fathers gun ) removed his name from the gun and reblued that area, How much does this decrease its value ??  Ive seen them from $800 on the low side to $2000.....other than the name spot the gun is perfect.....

Alot. In that I mean half of the 100% valve. The NIB prices are crazy.

It depend on the year it was built, was it rebuilt at some time ? Do all the serial numbers match.

Everything matches....only work ever done was removing the name and rebluing the spot where the name was.... I am thinking its on the low side because of this......

Go to the Colt forum. You will get the correct answers there. You have to look at many different aspects of the gun. Is it a 1911 or a 1911A1. The serial number will tell you that answer. Is it a Colt, Remington, Singer ? The list goes on. There are proof marks on the barrel, slide and frame. Some guns are all original, but many were rebuilt before and during the war.
