Elk Steak

I helped a fellow hunter out last year recover and hang a nice Buck . He gives me a call a couple of weeks ago to pick up some elk steaks . First time I every had elk basically cooked exact way I cook venison steaks . Came out fantastic . Might be better than venison not sure I do have several more steaks to give true   assessment . Plus he said If I want more call .

Only ate moose twice...both times tough. I didn't cook and not sure of cuts.

I lived for a while near a place in Colorado that made burgers out of different game and beef. I started just getting elk cheeseburgers instead of beef.

Elk is far better than venison and so is caribou. Never had moose, so cant compare

Elk is great, I've also had steaks. But I was given a moose roast by a friend. Slow cooked it with homemade gravy and red wine. One of my favorite wild game meals I've had.

It was very nice of him or her to remember you when they didn't need anything. I like them all deer, elk, moose, caribou, pronghorn antelope. Just about the only thing that I have tried and not liked was goose.

Caribou is the best but have heard moose is real good.

since this thread is getting derailed…..wild pork is my fav, followed by squirrel, rabbit and elk. Used to get a lot of wild pork growling up in SC, no closed season.
