Honorary Piney!!!!!!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Not really.  I left my NW Jersey rocky ridges for the flat, sandy Pine Barrens based on promises of never-before-seen (at least be me) herps.  Well, after a twelve hour day and miles of driving and walking, I did see one new species.

But first I had to respond to a call to move a TR from an occupied public space.  Obviously pre-shed.  It's nice that some folks can follow the rules/directions. It's a win-win for the snakes as well as the humans.  Coexist.  What is a shame is that the picture cannot the convey the size of this animal.  It was quite large.

Fowler's Toad.  Have seen these before.

Worm Snake.  Prolly one of of the most difficult to find.  Found at least a dozen over time ...............  But always cool.

Corn Snake.  State-endangered.  First for me.   Was getting dark.  Didn't even see the Fowler's Toad till I was going thru my pics.  IMO, the toad ruins the pic.

Very pretty snakes.

I saw some other new species, just couldn't pull off any photos.  I think there might be at least one more opportunity for me to head back down that way. Once I get the visions of chiggers, NJ Devil, and some really weird dudes out of my mind.

Supposedly going again on Friday with ENSP, my son, and the other seasonal tech.  Should be a good day.  My son was down earlier this week with ENSP (actually, he is ENSP) and found some pine snakes and a king snake, among others, but he wouldn't tell me where or give my any of his pics.  Bastard!
