I love striper fishing .
but they are not difficult to catch when they want to feed .
‘There isn’t much a striper won’t eat .
‘They actually will eat many things a bluefish won’t .
‘skill in catching stripers is knowing where and when they will chew .

.
My 3 fish over 30# I had never got good fish where I got these girls in past years. My 35 was had in great kills and my buddy got a 46 the next night in the same spot.

Ever catch a striper in deep water ?
Fish caught above 50’ usually have a good solid run before coming in top .
fish caught below 50’ fight like a tuna , and don’t want to do anything to move off the bottom .

I myself stopped trolling umbrella and spoons. The hook up puts a hurting on the fish. Most don't survive the release

I hate trolling, even for tuna. Unfortunately, most bigeyes are caught on the troll.

I love livelining for bass. I have caught countless bass in the 40s....still have yet to catch a 50 lb or bigger bass.

I prefer catching tuna on jigs. Although bait & top water is a blast. When a big tuna hits on top water, it's like a vw falling from the sky. It is insane. I have tons of lures for tuna from all over the world....honestly, catch infrequently on plugs. Do better w jigs and live mackerel.

So my first love is tuna on jigs/bait. Followed by livelining for bass.

You know what they say....If it were easy, it be called trolling

I gave up on livelining when herring got banned. But I know the feeling on locking in to a 40+pound fish on live bait

99 % of the time a pencil popper will catch the biggest bass in the school when they are crushing bunker .

Smaller bass will be all over the livies.

a pencil popper or a fresh dead slime glazed bunker will draw the monster cows .

Most of the biggest bass I have seen caught were on bunker spoons. The top water bite in Cape Cod is nearly constant.  Here, not as much. Either way, love being on the water.

There has always been a great topwater bite Oceanside  here on bass .

just most guys were always live lining on the schools ..

quite a few boats only threw top waters and shallow runners instead of making bait ..

I’ll take blues over stripers any day. Stripers fight like lake trout and blues fight  like salmon😁veracious fish. There’s a reason god made them stay below 3olbs, there wouldn’t be anything left in the ocean

Bluefish are the velociraptors of the ocean.
