Unexpected catch

Didn’t expect this today when my wife and I decided to bring a couple poles and a package of hotdogs for some fun with the kids at a small pond near our house. 

My son was having a blast with his new kiddy pole (has a slightly weighted plastic fish you can tie on to practice casting and reeling in). My wife and I caught a bunch of small catfish, and my wife started packing up and took our daughter back to the car while me and my son stayed behind talking to a new friend we met (NJWW member coincidentally) who was bass fishing. Mid-conversation with him I hooked something and immediately knew it was a giant compared to everything else we’d been catching. That small pond is where I’ve caught my biggest largemouth to date (over 15 years ago) and now my biggest catfish. 

Thanks to our new friend for taking the picture since my wife was already in the car!

I think the biggest keeper was you, wifey got a husband that can catch fish and cook too.lol.That fish looks done to perfection. And the roasted red peppers and brussel sprouts..Yum
