Anyone seeing any strutting or hearing any gobbling? I saw about 40 birds together last week and nothing exciting was happening.

Been seeing them down here in south nj every day. Toms hanging with the hens and showboating strutting around! Warmer weather should get em fired up!

ive seen a few hundred on farms in deep south jersey while I was trap shooting and patterning my shotgun. All on posted up land. Ive seen quite a few gobblers strutting already. Im hoping they are where I need them to be in A and B week.

I think there are a few well-fed yotes or other predators in Haskell. I could see 30-or-so birds flocked together in a day, and now I'm seeing flocks of about 7-10 birds. Haven't heard anything in the woods either, but I need to get out more.

When you cannot measure, your knowledge is meager and unsatisfactory.

I wouldn't worry about it. That's normal for this time of year. The Winter flocks are breaking up into smaller groups again and will move into their Spring areas. Those 30+ bird flocks are just the winter groups, they don't stay together.

I saw a few toms strutting way out in a field a few days ago, but not where anyone can hunt. Guy I know also saw a big tom strutting and gobbling near his work. This is all Northern NJ.

“I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target, but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature’s way of fang and claw and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow.” – Fred Bear
