Two shooters

Help me not screw the one up. I have a few shots of at least one of these big guys either just before or just after shooting light. Do I take my time and wait for better times or jump in the stand, hope for the best and risk blowing them out of there?

Focus on wind direction and where they generally come from.

Do you have a climber? If so,,,,,,hunt the wind from the direction they come in from. Get them when they are staging to come in to your area

Strike while the iron is hot....watch your wind direction. If you can sneak in deeper on a rainy/windy day...even better.

I have a stand directly above/behind. I believe I know where they are coming from so ill wait for the right wind and hope for the best.

Go soon as you can with the right wind, once the rut starts they could end up a couple miles away.

Sneak in closer to the bedding in the afternoon, if that's where your other stand is.  Stay until last minute.  You could bust them if trying to get in there in the morning even when it's an hour before light

I think it's best to climb down and leave as soon as you can't make an ethical shot or know exactly what deer it is. Otherwise, you could wind up educating them.  For me that is prior to 30 minutes after sunset, unless in a field where it stays brighter longer...

Wait for the wind to be in your favor. Try to hunt afternoons first. Good luck with them.

That is last minute to me.  i never go by 30 minutes after sunset unless a full moon is lighting up an open field as the sun sets.  Gets way too dark under the canopy before that.  Guess I should have said stay to the very end of shooting light.
