Is that a deer in the tree to the left of the rubbed up tree in the first pic

You mean in the tree next to the cedar with the peeling bark?  I think that's a clump of leaves.

For the naysayers #1 you weren't there and #2 my phone cam is nowhere near iPhone quality. You act like a big buck can't kill a small tree and also that a buck would refrain from rubbing a tree if it had peeling bark (whether the buck was the reason for the peeling bark or not). I've also saw trees where deer have eaten the bark off in winter. I know the difference.

I'm on a new property this year. First rub was over my head (I'm around 6')! The second was on a tree I couldn't wrap my 74" reach around.

Good luck with the new place, it is always exciding to explore something new.

No deer makes a rub  at 6' or above. They lower their heads to rub with the inside of their antler basket.

#1.. Think there just saying a buck will not rub six feet high and I agree.

#2.. true when there's lack of food like this past winter, they will eat cedar bark and pine needles.

Good luck with your new property Michael set up a camera and send pictures.
