Reveal Camera shows RED COYOTE looks like Coyote Fox cross breed, but that's not possible.

This ugly red coyote had me thinking Coyfox hybrid, but then when I looked it up I found it impossible for the two to cross breed. Looks like this red coyote might be descendant of red wolf or even a Golden Retriever. Any there are several on the farm that are always chasing deer and killing sheep, we have never taken a red one but sooner or later this guy will wind up chasing sheep and he will pay the price if he does.  Here is a part of the article I found and the link to the entire page:  https://forfoxsakewildlife.com/2018/12/29/do-coyfoxes-exist/

 

So what’s the answer to the mystery of the coyfox? It’s both simpler, and more interesting, than you might expect! An animal that looks like a coyfox is, most likely, a coyote with either erythrism (a condition causing reddish fur coloration) or leucism (a condition causing blonde or gold coloration). Most coyotes with these genes are not “pure” coyotes, but distant descendants of wolves and feral dogs. Leucism, in some coyotes, has been linked to a male golden retriever who joined a coyote family decades ago in Newfoundland, while erythrism in Southeastern coyotes seems to be a legacy of the red wolf, which is now extinct in the wild.

I shot one that looked just like that about 20 years ago around Blairstown.  I still have the tail.

It's just a regular coyote in a redish phase. Coyote kill red fox and won't breed with them.

100% coyote- red phase.  Now I see why all your deer pics are running.  I would go there and kill that thing and others.

Naw not a dog out there, the coyotes would kill it. You would not believe what it sounds like when a siren is heard.  Its spooky they are all around the valley.

The Eastern Red Wolf is endangered but not extinct . Interesting when modern DNA studies were done on our larger Eastern Coyote they fully expected it to have the grey wolf genes, instead it had more Eastern Red Wolf Genes.

Definitely not a mix it is scientifically impossible according the to article I quoted and link I posted. Its a red coyote and if I see him near the sheep he will be a dead coyote.

I did not say it was 1/2 breed, read the article in my post it explains where red coyote originated from, that is a RED COYOTE.!!
