Duke island park

Fished this section of Thera Raritan today. Targeting Smallies. Caught 5-6 but only one decent in size. Promising but need find deeper pockets with moving water.

Yea I started at the falls and caught a nice smallie and I believe a rock bass. Was using a kietech on a jig head and throwing some top water. Then I waded downstream and caught a couple more Smallies in the current and a small largemouth in slack water. Looked like the far bank had better/rocky structure. Gonna bring waders next time and cut across the river. Only had crocs on lol.

i normally start at the falls and fish down to the last parking lot in the park. water gets moving pretty good back there. yeah waders help

havent fished it in a few years before i moved out where i am now. once they removed the dam at the old prices junk yard a lot more fish were able to move up as far up at duke island dam. my go to lure for that area was a rapala countdown. and clouser minnows for fly fishing.

Yea on a bed rig. I either toss a kietech into the falls and let the was take it or slowly drag a ned on the bottom. Rarely get skunked there but it gets boring
