Really cool, I spent a lot of hours on Salmon river in NY and never seen a salmon take a plug in the rivers.

Yes they will occasionally get so fired up that they grab out of aggression. For the most part they don’t but that doesn’t mean that you should snag them. If you fish to them just like you are trout fishing with no lifting and just bottom bounce you get plenty of fair hooked fish. 

Would never snag or lift, hate that. And yes you can dead drift, they are bound to suck in a fly during gill flare. But those that take the time to learn the technique can take advantage of the Kings aggression.
