5/31 fluking

Striper fishing in RB sucked.   It was 15-20 NW so entire bay was quite bumpy and hard to spot bait, but not reading bait or fish from Flynn's knoll to Romer shoals and everywhere in between.    Trolled W for a while, then decided to plow through steep chop and try up in back by near Triangle.   Got one 28" bass on shad umbrella.  Marked some fish, and blues started to tear up the shads.  Still no bait.  Went up into the Arthur Kill and found the mother lode of bunker...  Loaded the well, and tried live-lining but 5-6# blues were destroying them instantly but managed to land several.    Probably should have stayed in there and spent the day playing the blues, but decided to take our live bait and try back out in back bay, then all the way back up to Flynn's knoll.    Just a few bluefish leaving us heads from that point on.  Tried jigging for fluke for a few minutes near the Ammo Pier and dropped a good one never saw it.  That was it!   Later heard that I apparently went the wrong way should have rounded the hook and that's where the bass were!
