No they don't Whenever I look at some name's origin it ends up being some variation of some language describing the bird or its characteristics. For example Titmouse is derived from a combination of Old Icelandic and Anglo Saxon and it simply means small bird. Booby originated from this bird's perception of stupidity and it comes from Spanish "bobo = silly. .................Or maybe you are right and they just justify the silly names this way, laughing in the background
