Anyone use the new Daiwa Saltiga 20000?

Obviously. Makes no sense to buy smaller reel and spend $200 plus on another spool from next reel size up, unless gear ratio is different (i.e. the 18000 has a higher gear ratio, so makes sense to buy 18000 then put 20000 spool on it)

Thats why you buy an after market spool or use a larger model spool....I have upgraded spools on all my stellas...my 10ks have 16 k spools...my 18ks have 20k spools and my 20ks have the equivalent of a 25k spool.... never an issue with line capacity

I am not gonna argue, but no such thing as a stella 16000 nor a 25000.

Yup, just started fishing for tuna this year. You are correct, I presumed you were talking about Stellas, not the Studio Ocean Mark aftermarket spool. To each their own. IMO, it doesn't make sense to buy a 10000 stella and put 14000 spool on it, as the ratio is faster on the 14000 compared to 10000. It makes sense in the case of putting bigger spool on the 18000, as ratio is faster on 18000 compared to 20000 (faster retrieve). The SOM spools are ($200-$300), as I imagine you know. I suppose your opinion is different than mine, I like the gear ration of the 14000 & 18000. Others like the slower retrieve of 20000.....I don't.

Once you get past the 1st year trying for a big eye, it gets easier the more time you spend going after them.

YouTube can be your best friend.

Keep at it Nick!
