I would say it depends where you are at. Deer carts are awesome if you have trails wide enough to use them on and aren't obstructed. If you have to go over trees or rocks, etc...they can be a pain in the butt. Two keys are big and preferably wide tires (so they don't sink in mud, etc) and a high enough handle so you don't have to reach down to pull the cart. Another option is to get a plastic sled like kids use in the snow, they work great but break down over time.

My one spot in pa is 2 miles into the woods. I've used a game cart there for 15 years now.

I use a lightweight folding killshot gane cart for bowhunting.

What happens to them? Why do you call them junk?

I am going to get the same one you have but what makes the others junk?

I look for mags so the spokes don't bend

The one for 60 has spokes...if anyone has ever had to pull a cart over snow they know that the snow packs the spokes and makes it a b***h to pull... ... Also they have 300 lb capacity...most good ones are 500....

Also the herters come in 2lbs heavier

This is the one they are advertising for 59.99.

It has 300 lb capacity and mag wheels.

I am getting the other one because it has bigger wheels an folds up.

BUT, this is a case where something looks really good online.. and unless you see it in person how are you to know it is "junk"?

:hmmmer:

When I have to, I've used sleds. I've also used a wheel barrow and game carts but found them cumbersome. The way I hunt, I prefer cheap kiddie sleds when necessary, which wear out after enough dragging, but definitely help.

They greatly cut down on friction which makes dragging easier, but more importantly they are necessary if you'll be mounting the animal since they save the cape. I've worn deer down to leather over their entire side with long drags, not something you'd want to do if you're mounting it.

“I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target, but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature’s way of fang and claw and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow.” – Fred Bear

The one for 60 is coming up for me as spoked wheels....

either way it STILL only has a 300 lb capacity and is STILL 2 lbs heavier then 1 with a 500lb capacity....

To me that's junk but what do I know. ..

I've never killed a deer and had to drag it 2 miles with cart with 2 other deer on there........;-)

I agree with Palawman30 about the wheel spokes in the snow. I took the thin bike wheels off the cart and used wide inflatable riding lawn mower wheels. Over inflate then on normal terrain and let some air out in the snow. The wheels bounce over most Obstacles in the woods. Have fun
