Illinois: Bill Introduced to Ban Home-Built Firearms

Yesterday, Representative Angelica Guerrero-Cuellar introduced House Bill 4055 to severely restrict the centuries old practice of home-building firearms for personal use, and also to ban most existing home-built firearms. It has not received a committee assignment yet, but NRA will monitor this bill.

Many of our estate sales have the tool bench in the basement and I always see the machinists parts / tools......of yesteryear.......Machinists were a highly skilled trade and I m not sure how much has been passed down......I would assume a highly skilled machinist could manufacture most of the gun parts quite easily........

I can see this leading to the ban on selling parts.  Changing barrels, changing out a cracked stock, or mounting a scope will be considered building a gun.

With today's technology they are making plastic guns and gun parts  with those 3-d printers. They are undetectable to a metal detector. Not good.
