So I expanded my garden this week.......I was like a pioneer I pulled out stumps, cut trees , removed ivy , removed rocks etc . etc .........so then I wanted to fence in the new garden with 4 ' high stockade fence.........I went to Lowes and looked in the garden section/ outdoors......didnt see any fencing and when I asked an employee they said looks like it is not in stock and who knows when it will be coming in.........I then proceded to ask at the managers desk in front of store.......they said if its not there they dont know.........I then went to the lumber section, where the workers said they have 6 ' stockade but no 4' as it is out of stock and who knows when it will come in........so then I walked out the door and there stacked up about 30 sections high is the 4' stockade fence.........needless to say I didnt buy it there and wont ever be going back.........I went to the Home Depot and it was painless......of course I had to load myself but that has its benefits.........anyway maybe I am getting old as everything is an adventure nowadays..........( 54 ).........

Supply chain was broken for months.

Highest bidder gets the material. I guess Depot is paying for it, to be passed along to the customer.

My buddy is a Depot store manager. They had to write off material as stolen, to get any deliveries to the store. They had to show zero stock. If another store had three and he had two, it was up to the logistics person. But if he had zero, he got the delivery.

Things are getting better. Just have to go between the two big names to collectively find what you need.

Interesting, 2 days ago I was at Lowes and looking for something and asked for help and the guy looked it up on his phone and said yes they had it and then took me to the product I was looking for ?

I thought, growing old would take longer !

I spent most of my money on shotguns and fly rods.  The rest I just wasted.

no one gives a crap anymore. thats the problem. as for lowes, i always drive by and go the depot. not because of any reason only because i know where everything is in home depot. in and out within mins. lowes seems to be complete opposite of how home depot is layed out and it annoys the hell out of me.

Both are the same. Wherever you go you are just one step away from getting screwed by “I don’t give a shit or unable to do my job” employee. I’m currently going through a nightmare of getting service on my washer for which I bought extended warranty. It will be at least 12 days before I have a chance to get someone but it’s just a chance. Last appointment ended with me sitting all day and waiting for fir repairman who never came

I hate Lowe's. Never shop there. Impossible to fine people in the store and, when I do, always get the "I don't know" answer. HD is much better

i will never wait. i cant do it. i pase around the house all day waiting for the truck to arrive. the "we will be there between 8am and 1pm" drives me up the walls. my wife ends up waiting so i can get things done around the house.

Always say: "just 'cuz the guy has an orange apron on, a tape measure and a pencil behind his ear it doesn't necessarily mean he knows what he's doing."

agree and disagree. some old timers take the home depot job after a careers worth of knowledge and they are just looking to keep busy. but then again some are trained by corperate "tests" to learn the knowledge to work in the lumber dept.  i have seen both ends of it and i know when to walk away.

If anybody is thinking about having carpet installed from either place, don't do it.  Believe me, even with their free install offers it's going to be cheaper and better going to a reputable carpet store.  They are the middle man for a third party and won't even sell you the better backing if you just want to buy carpet there.   They wanted $2 more a foot than the carpet store did, and both hd and lowes added 1 or 2 linear feet to the amount I needed after it was rounded up to the next foot, which also added a lot more to the backing which they already over figured for.  Then they figured a full 12'x24'pc to finish a 4'width in a 21.5' x 15.5' room, plus charged for backing for all that waist.  Only needed 12 x 8 cut in 3 sections.  They would not make 2 - 4' seems to piece 3 lengths together.  Saved over $2,000 getting 3 rooms done.
