I have access to 40 acres that I can do what I want, but hunting isn't allowed. So with that said I have a cam over looking the corn my stand is 80 yards away been hunting this tree for the last 10 yrs it has always produced, in years past the corn would attract deer and bears, but this year the bears are just out of control I have a total of 10 bears coming in. A loan boar that my friend saw yesterday, a sow with three cubs and a sow with 4 cubs, I think they are keeping most deer away from the area. I would like to keep putting corn out and conditioning the bears to keep coming in, but also want the deer to come in, I have three does coming in at night. If I continue with the corn and bears coming in I have to rely on the bucks chasing does for the rut, or take my chances of them wanting corn. It's a tough choice!!!

I noticed all the bears you were attracting with the bait but I wasn't sure how you felt about it so I didn't offer up any advice on it.

Since you asked though...lol...Here's what I would do:

I would keep baiting the bears if you want to try and hunt them for bear season (or have a friend hunt them). It's good to keep them coming like that.

However, I would probably not deer hunt the spot for now. Find somewhere else to hunt until bear season.

That's what I would do, but I also don't hunt just one spot, I hunt so many different spots I forget about some of them. lol

You could take this opportunity to find something closer to your house, or locate a new area in the Gap.

Good luck.

I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature’s way of fang and claw and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow.” – Fred Bear

I'm going to continue baiting this spot keeping the bears around. I will hunt it Saturday, and check my cams if by chance the deer start to show up more then I will take my chances and hunt this spot, it does seem as we get closer to the rut this spot gets better, but if things continue to be as they are with very little deer I will move my spot to another area, about 500 yds away. I killed a few deer in this spot, I won't be able to find it in the dark, so Saturday mid morning I will walk to this spot find my tree and mark it with bright eyes

How are you putting the corn out?   Are you throwing it over a large area, so the bear cant just  lay down and eat the pile?
