New Savage Renegauge. New American-Made Semi-Auto from Savage.

Anyone have one of these yet or handled one. Looks like it might be worth a good look, I need something for one of the grand kids. I like the gas action and how it is released.

Just looked at this video on the Tristar Raptor, I might look at that to price is right for kid 1st gun.

What kind of issues, I am not ready to buy I am still in the WHAT SHOULD I CONSIDER mode. Looking for ideas and feedback on 1st gun for kids.

Ones O/U forend fell off on second shot, stripped screws and the others semi jams constantly

I’d be interested to hear the negatives as well and also what model they own.    The semi auto Viper model gets very good reviews.   I’ve not shot one but I’ve handled them and fit and finish looked good.   Also know someone that owns one and he likes it.  
 

Never shot or handled the Renegauge but it’s heavy at just shy of 8 pounds.  
 

I’d look at the Franchi Infinity,  Retay Masai Mara or for a bit more money the Benelli M2.   I’ve shot, own or owned each of these and they are all really nice and a lot lighter than the Savage.   

I’d also take a look at the Tristar Viper if you want to spend less.

Dont over look stoeger.   I have 4 and all work great with no issues.  Im actually going to buy a 20 guage as well.  I currently have 2 3000s a p350 and 3500
