Fingerlakes?

Recommended Posts

I own in Aurelius( Auburn ) right on rt90 towards town going west.

Very very nice relaxed area. Lots of vineyards, apple orchards, and beautiful scenery.

You can hop on a bus for a small fee and do the winery tour around one of the lakes. Or just drive around them yourself  and stop at all the little villages on the lake.

I'm on Cayuga lake. The fishing is great. Can be a challenge from shore because of the private property thing. But there's state parks around it where you can access the lake. Large mouth and small mouth very good. But the bowfishing is off the charts.

You won't be disappointed.

LET EM GO SO HE CAN GROW

Stayed on Owasco lake a few years ago. House had canoes and kayaks. We were able to rent a boat for the week at a marina on the lake. Fishing was good yellow perch and rock bass were everywhere, big smallies bit at sunset and sunrise but this was in the heat of the summer. The wives hit the wineries why guys drank beer and fished. We went to several taverns for dinner and we went to Cooperstown for the national baseball hall of fame and museum. It was a good time I would definitely do it again.

Ommergang is near Cooperstown too.

Played in Bath NY in the late 70's. Spent some fishing time on Keuka Lake and did very well with the bass in the heat of summer. Wineries close by and just a beautiful part of NYS. You don't hear much about Keuka but the locals don't seem to mind as they consider it the gem of the Finger Lakes. It was pretty much pristine back then. I'd imagine it has changed some.

I went to college in Ithaca on the south end of Cayuga Lake. As others said, wineries galore. But check out the state parks nearby as many have spectacular waterfalls. Ithaca is also famous for its gorges. Ah yes, spring time gorge cliff diving with all your college friends. Brings back foggy memories 😁

I used to go to the finger lakes a lot in college too (over 20 years ago).  Seneca and Cayuga lakes have the most to do and the most wineries, breweries etc..   As mentioned Keuka was quieter but really nice too.  A good location would be on the east shore of Seneca or West shore of Cayuga as you’ll be in the middle of a lot of things.   From my recollection, the southern parts of the lakes had more touristy towns, restaurants, vineyards etc.. than the northern.  You’ll have a good time.
