Taxidermy - Suggestions/Price

Now…. I know the old saying "you get what you pay for". Im looking to get a deer shoulder mount done. Im seeing price all over the board. Im located in Union County based on that I figure an hr ride at best is what ill have to take. Any recommendations and if so whats their price for a mount based on the last time you used them?

Depends on who does the work....In West Paterson you have George Dante owner of: http://wildlifepreservations.com/aboutus.html  he is by far one of the best around, and you will pay top dollar and timing can be longer then other taxidermist, he has done most of my mounts, top quality work !!!  Next is Jim Kelly located south of Flemington he is just as good, he did my biggest buck and I would use him in the future. South of you is All-Game I think in Neptune, yet another great taxidermist, these three guys are top notch but they charge for it. One person who has improved over the last few years is Charlie Sahanas in Wanaque, his deer look really good to the point that the next buck I get that I want mounted he will get my business, he isn't as expensive as others:  https://www.facebook.com/sahanastaxidermy.  JerseyJay, also does really good work located in Clifton. When you have free time call these guys, or others in the area and ask to to view their work and shop, they are more then happy to do so

I've heard great things about both Jim Kelly and George Dante...likely can't go wrong with either.

I've had work done by Carl at All Game and it's excellent, great attention to detail.

The last buck I had mounted was done by Sandy Sylvester at Wildlife Expressions (http://www.wildlifeexpressionstaxidermy.com/)

Sandy is a bit of a drive from you in Union, but her prices are (were?) very reasonable and she does great work.

Arizzi taxidermy is awesome. He has a website and has been doing it for a good amount if time.

Yeah I remember Sandy being $450 or so a few years back, I figured she's a little higher now.

How about tanning a hide?  Does anyone know who does them and what the cost is?

I used Jay for my moose and I am happy with his work. The moose was the first he had done.
