NRA Files for Bankruptcy

This is a tactical move on their point.  By filing for Chapter 13 they are restructuring their debt, and it also shields them from court cases.  In this case, it gets the NY Attorney General off of their backs, and they can move to Texas with very little headache...like most people are already doing.

The NRA has enough funds, this is a strategic legal move.

Strategic yes, a guarantee no.  Filing is one thing, finding a 2A friendly judge to be on their side is another.  Moving the operation to Texas doesn’t assure them success.

I stopped sending the NRA my money a few years ago.  Had a hard time quantifying where my money was going and how they were spending it.  IMO they need new leadership, then I may revisit membership.

We'll see how this washes out at the end. Maybe I wouldn't mind a "restitution" check.

I've sent a lot of money to the NRA over the decades, not just membership fees but also additional annual contributions to NRA-ILA.

I'm not interested in their "We're moving to Gun Loving Texas!" b.s.    Get rid of LaPierre & others, restructure,  and restore confidence and honor in the organization.

They could wind up note in the history books, you never know what the judge will do, but I do think and hope the will survive, everything in NY is TOOOOO expensive.

Life member and certified SG and Rifle Instructor here..... Filing chapter 11 was strategic to screw Letitia James the NY AG. According to the WSJ, she is trying to dissolve the NRA for allegedly violating  NYS nonprofit laws by “diverting tens of millions of dollars through excessive expenses and contracts that benefitted relatives and close associates.” Smart move by the NRA the court may not find their petition for bankruptcy has legitimate purpose. “There is no obvious reorganizational purpose.” Will be interesting but gotta love the NRAs strike first move.
