GregN Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 HI Folks - have there been any "recent" changes to laws/regulation regarding the shipping of ammunition to NJ? I went to purchase some shotgun ammo (a few boxes of bird shot and some turkey rounds) from GUNS.COM and when I went to check out I received a message that they wouldn't ship it. They have a Shipping Restriction section on there web page, but NJ was not listed. Just wondering if GUNS.COM simply made a decision to not ship to NJ, or did the regs change and the purchase of ammo on-line and shipping to NJ become prohibited. Tx-Greg
Haskell_Hunter Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 Some online sales won't ship to NJ because of the paperwork that NJ requires for everything. Others will ask for a copy of your FID and DL to have on file, and others don't really care and just ship. Bowhunter458, BHC, Bucksnbows and 1 other 1 3 Sapere aude. Audeamus. GregN Posted January 15, 2021 Author Posted January 15, 2021 OK, so a mixed bag and vendor specific. Glad to hear online ordering is still an option. I'm in Central NJ the few places even remotely local have low to no stock, and driving an hour to Cabelas in Delaware doesn't mean they will have what i need anyway. Tough times. Greg
Haskell_Hunter Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 ammo.com gunbroker.com midway.com Three places I've gotten ammo from reliably. Gunbroker has been the most reliable, but the prices are not the best. It's an auction site, so if someone has the money and wants the ammo more than you do, it can get expensive. But if you're the guy with the money, you can get ammo. Bucksnbows 1 Sapere aude. Audeamus. When you cannot measure, your knowledge is meager and unsatisfactory.

Haskell_Hunter Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 I will not use Cheaper Than Dirt. They inflate prices and gouge the shooting community whenever they can. hunterbob1 1 Sapere aude. Audeamus. When you cannot measure, your knowledge is meager and unsatisfactory.

Woodsman416 Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 Mack's Prairie Wings ships to NJ. Last time I ordered it was free shipping on a case and I think $20.00 hazmat fee. delvalhunter 1
Bucndoe Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 No regulation changes. That is corporate decision. When companies decide to do that, I decide to never spend a dime with them MRMCR, Woodsman416, nickmarch and 2 others 1 4 There is nothing more intolerant than a liberal preaching tolerance God gives the toughest battles to his strongest soldiers "Leadership is a potent combination of strategy and character. RPK0620 Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 Just ordered and received handgun cartridges from https://ammoshoponline.com I thought, growing old would take longer ! I spent most of my money on shotguns and fly rods. The rest I just wasted.
barrike Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 (edited) Last month I ordered some plain old 7mm bullets (not loaded ammo) from Bass Pro online. They wouldn't ship to NJ, so I shipped them to my brother in PA. Just 2 hours ago I ordered some .30 cal bullets from Bass Pro online. This time it let me ship to NJ. Waiting to see if they call to cancel the order or change shipping destination. Edited January 15, 2021 by barrike
nickmarch Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 The State passed sales and use tax laws. Out of State retailers who sell to NJ residents must register with the State, collect and pay NJ sales tax. Some retailers won't go thru the hassle so they don't do business in NJ. Nanuk 1
OldPiney Woods Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 Yes, Mack's Prairie Wings ships to NJ and no FID or DL is required. Also, free shipping with orders over$99. I have ordered from them. They usually have a large selection of shotgun ammo but like everyone else inventory is very low right now.
GregN Posted January 16, 2021 Author Posted January 16, 2021 Thanks for all of feedback fellas..very much appreciated. Unfortunately, it does't seem like this issue is going away anytime soon. Greg
