Scope rec's for AR15's

I've got a vortex strike eagle 1-6x on my 6.5 grendel.  Probably the best $300 scope out there.  Inside of 300 it will hold its own.  Friend of mine who has no budget went full john wick. Got some $2k AR.  $1500 trjicon scope. I out shoot him easily. Not saying it's anyone here but a high dollar scope won't make you a better shooter.
