COYOTE Headaches, On the Reveal again. They have killed peacocks, sheep and an unknown number Turkeys.

Coming off the property at the end of the hunt almost every hunt I hear the pack of coyotes calling each other across the valley. They have killed sheep peacocks and only god knows how many Turkey. Before the Coyotes we had so many turkey  you could not count them, no if I see 1 or two a year I am lucky. Sheep are about to start birthing any day and thats when the coyotes are at there worst. Last night they were down in the fields and I got them on the camera.  Trapper is coming in next week but I have to now keep watch over the sheep to insure they do not attach the flock like they did last year. THE STATE IS WRONG if they think the Coyote are not a problem, they are. We will start taking turns watching the sheep and try to keep the coyote away. The trapping cannot start soon enough.

Report the coyotes to the state. The only way we can convince them for more liberal hunting season is to officially report sightings.

Its been done.

Can we shoot them too Dennis???  Sheep will be defenseless .....

We can shoot anytime the coyotes are in pursuit the problem is we have tried without success to hunt them, the trapper is the only effective answer,  we are against a park and they are protected there and multiplying. There have been nights coming out of the fields when they were singing from all directions it is a strange feeling that makese you feel uneasy coming out alone with only a bow in your hands.

Are you hunting or trapping them?

Not actively hunting while taking guarding birthing sheep I carry weapon in case they go after a lamb. but have not had a shot at one. Trapping is primary control.

That was not a question for you.

Hunting yotes on a farm is very hard. I have tried, and I still do without any success. They are not like the midwest and west dogs  you see on youtube running to the electronic caller  in wide open fields, all day long. Our dogs avoid open fields.

Dennis,,, who's the trapper coming? They are not easy to catch most of the time. Has he caught them before?

He is an excellent experienced trapper.
