Lunatic Posted January 10, 2021 Posted January 10, 2021 (edited) This is the first for me. I was goose hunting yesterday and the action was picking up with several flocks coming from different directions. Next thing I know this small airplane cuts through our set up very low. Ok no big deal he will move on. Not really. He circled me several times at very low altitude, keeping birds away until they all moved on. He stayed in the area for at least 15 more minutes, flying right overhead my head but there was no more birds for him to push. I have to say this is not the first time we had a plane flaying low overhead few times, making it feel like an attempt to spoil our hunt but this was different. This guy's intentions were very clear. I have his picture. Anyone knows how to identify this guy? Maybe I should call the game warden? Maybe I should call FAA? Any pilots on here? delvalhunter Posted January 10, 2021 Posted January 10, 2021 Was he flying below 500’ or within 500’ of you?? if so, You’ve got a perfect pic of his tail #. That’s his “license plate”. I’d call the c/o and tell them what happened. If nothing else and he doesn’t want to take it up, you can contact faa and let them know that he was breaking cardinal rule #1 of flight. You’ve got proof! Low flying rules in the US An aircraft must maintain an altitude of 500 feet above the surface, except over open water or sparsely populated areas. In those cases, the aircraft may not be operated closer than 500 feet to any person, vessel, vehicle, or structure. thefirstndsecond 1 Sometimes I think the world has gone completely mad. And then I think, "Aw, who cares?" And then I think, "Hey, what's for supper?"

If I had to guess he was about 500 to 600 feet but I have no clue
Bonefreak Posted January 10, 2021 Posted January 10, 2021 (edited) Report the flying shitbird!! im sure the FAA are required to keep records of complaints on pilots. And who knows....maybe the report will lead to the smacker being a terrorist practicing his kamikazi tactics...only to be caught by a jersey goose hunter!! delvalhunter Posted January 10, 2021 Posted January 10, 2021 Based on registration it seems like it’s registered and used as a trainer. Owned by an aviation company and not a private individual. Not to say a private pilot didn’t rent it to go screw with people...I’d contact the owner first and tell them what they were doing, where you were, and that you feel that they were flying within 500’ of you AND that it could be construed as hunter harassment and is punishable by law. Be nice about it but let it be known that what they were doing wasn’t cool. Gunsmoke and DonW 1 1 Sometimes I think the world has gone completely mad. And then I think, "Aw, who cares?" It is owned by s company, RTD Aviation/Hillsborough NJ. I will be calling them on monday. Maybe someone rented the plane and I am sure they would not be pleased to know what he is doing. Flight has VERY strict rules and if it’s known they are broken, it gets cleaned up very quickly. Please keep us posted as to what you find out. Sometimes I think the world has gone completely mad. At the end all I want this to stop and it maybe the best way. I am not sure if it was him in the past but if it wasn't I am sure the world will spread at Hillsborough Airport. I am thinking the owner will not be happy to learn his airplane is used to chase geese around. That plane could be brought down by one single goose strike. Edited January 10, 2021 by Lunatic
