Best Season for a Trophy Buck?

Which Hunting Season is the best to harvest a nice buck? Is it the begining of the Bow Season when the deer are undisturbed? The Permit Bow that takes advantage of the rut? The Early Muzzleloader Season just before the 6 Day Firearm? Or the Six Day Fiream because of the increased hunter pressure? Or the Late Season Muzzleloader Season when the deer are starting to get back into their normal patterns?

What is everyone's opinion?

September - when a mature buck is on a solid feed pattern

post rut (usually about the 3rd week of November) - when a nature buck is searching or following the last doe(s) in heat

late January (only when weather is cold with snow) - a mature buck will go back to a solid feed pattern

feed patterns are definitely the easiest time to kill a target bucK where in the rut you may see more bucks but not necessarily your target buck

summer pattern bucks the first two weeks of the season .

wait till the rut to shoot a buck that lives at your spot , there is a good possibilty that he will be chasing does a few miles from his home ground., and you wont even see him

Late winter back on the feed, afternoon sits where they are once again moving like clock work.

But overall, it comes down to if your hunting a spot that holds trophy bucks, every season can be the one he slips up in.

LOCATION means more than the time of the year

I heard according to some guy that Jack named poacher joe. The week or two before fall bow is best time to kill big bucks. Lol.

I think the oct 15th to mov 15th have been best for me. I never do well in september and mixed results in january. But october through december have been good. But that 30 day period being the best for me.

I never shot a good buck during 6 day in my life. Or December for that matter - but most years I do not have a permit bow tag getting past month of November. If I rank my 10 biggest bucks in descending order by size of rack  - 11/11/2019, 10/5/2018, 11/18/2011, 9/29/2017, 10/4/2003, 9/17/2020, 11/13/2020, 10/25/2015, 9/27/2009, 11/14/2014

Nothing spooks deer more than my stank…
