Dominant buck 601
Tikka stainless- there is one for sale on the PA hunter website. Savage weather warrior. Put a nice scope on it, good to go
flukebelly 132
Tikka t3 -fully agree. Just remember a 270 limits the bullet weight compared to some other “ all round” calibers.
flat9999 80
Can't go wrong with many of the suggestions. For a classic all-around rifle, I'd go with: Winchester Model 70 Supergrade - ~$1400 Leupold VX-5HD 3-15x44mm - ~$1000 Talley Rings and bases - ~$150 Great looking package. BTW - Great choice of caliber! Edited November 24, 2020 by flat9999
BHC 9,160
$1400 for a Winchester? Who's making them this week? Dominant buck

Could prolly get it for a bit less. From what I've been reading, it's been a very long time (if ever) since the Model 70s were made as well as they are now.

I put a good quality scope on it and good to go. Used it to drop my PA cow elk. Not a rifle hunter so it was my first experience with a bolt gun. Shooting with a backpack(hunting scenario) as a rest I easily got 2" groups at 150 yards. I'm sure it does better if locked into a gun vise on a bench. It's a no frills gun that does the job well. I'd recommend it. How long did it take for you to draw a cow elk tag?
nmc02 3,238
If you are dead set on a .270. Look at browning, savage, or winchester. HOWEVER, look at this rifle brand. They are top notch....https://christensenarms.com/mesa/

Pathman 1,057
Lots of great suggestions guys, thanks! So I’m not “dead set” on a .270, but I’m looking for something that doesn’t have too much recoil so I can shoot it “for fun” as well as take deer/bear. I have been looking at the Christensen Arms rifles, very nice. So while I have you guys, someone mentioned the controlled feed vs. push feed actions. I’m not too familiar with the difference, and is it something I should consider? Edited November 24, 2020 by Pathman
