Shot my first deer of the season this afternoon. He came in limping really bad and he wasn't my target buck but, I decided to shoot him anyway. Made a 39 yard shot and he ran about 80 yards. I watched him fall over. He is the second deer that I have ever shot during permit bow.

Tryed that doe bleat can and it actually worked. To bad I hit a limb with my arrow and shot was super horrible quartering away into hind leg. No blood nothing but heard him crash maybe 70 yards and was wondering if that was really him?

Seems like I hit the artery by pure luck and his last 10 yards were massive blood which came all out of that hind quarter.

wow - talk about luck!    That femoral artery is a lethal spot for sure - very few "aim" for it but those that hit it, are eternally blessed.   Go buy your lottery ticket!    Congrats

Missed the big 8 this morning by 1/2hr at my house... decided to head to a lease... buck was already at my stand 20yrs away... it was a spike. I settle in here comes a 6 nose to the ground looking. Passed... next a here something sounding big right from behind me... it’s an 6 with 2 nubs barely an 8... 5 yrds from me... pass. Another spike comes by 5 yrds... no shooters but great day in the woods

Congrats! It happened to me once. Buck stepped off as I shot quartering away. He went about 30 yards spraying blood and dropped. I went through about every emotion in 7 seconds.

About 80, thought he went down but he was plowing running on 3 legs instead down ridge...

Yeah. I think I honestly got a little greedy and tried really sucking in tight to shoulder and hit bone. Poor move on my part. 15 yards on ground should have been a chip shot. I hate it but it is a good, harden lesson it not being complacent with your equipment or your abilities. Should have double lunged and left it at that. Be posting a photo of a deer tonight. Tracked for 2.5 hours tonight, about 225 yards from shot in to a swamp. Smelt a deer in there but backed out to not stir stuff and got a pooch coming in am. 
 

Def caught lung, I’m sure he’s a dead deer. Didn’t push or bump him at all. Just not one go push it. Sure I’ll sleep well tonight lol

As they say, there's more than one way to skin a deer, or is that a cat.  Congrats!  Let me guess,Rage?  You can hit them anywhere with a rage
